Molecular Biology Lab
Location: Building H, Room Number: H-102
Description about lab: Molecular Biology Laboratory (MBL) is one of four research laboratories managed by PAER, and was established in 2022 to enhance the research and educational capabilities of ITC in molecular genetics. Initiated by the SATREPS-Tonle Sap project in 2018, the lab was later upgraded to fully function under the AUN/SEED-Net (JICA) and USAID funding in 2022. Equipped with cutting-edge technology and facilities, the laboratory provides researchers and students with access to state-of-the-art equipment, including:
● Quant studio 5 thermocycler: for amplifying DNA copies, detection, identification,
and quantification of microorganisms.
● Nanodrop spectrophotometer: a nanotechnology that allows to measure
purity and amount of isolated nucleic acids (DNA and RNA).
● MinION MK1C: a pocket-size sequencing platform invented by Oxford
Nanopore technology for long-read whole genome sequencing (WGS).
By leveraging these advanced resources, we aim to expand the scope of ITC’s research in biological sciences and foster greater collaboration both regionally and internationally. With the MBL, we are confident that our researchers and students will be able to make significant contributions to the field of genetics exploration and application in the environment, food and agriculture sectors.
