Digital Fabrication Lab (FABLAB-ITC)
Location: Building J, Room number: J501&J502
Description about lab: Owing to the fast-industrial growth and the ASEAN market integration, Cambodia will need more high-capacity human resources with technological innovation and invention to keep its economic growth and its regional competency strong. A practical workspace equipped with digital fabrication tools are important for electronics hardware design and/or customization to achieve product prototyping or small-scale manufacturing, paving the way to bring new ideas into the real world. However, such an environment is limited to be accessible in Cambodia. Fablab-ITC comes to fill this gap with great benefits for students, instructors, researchers, and industrial developers to validate and materialize their ideas. Moreover, Fablab-ITC is a small-scale workshop offering digital fabrication. It is typically equipped with an array of flexible computer-controlled tools that cover several different length scales and various materials, with the aim to make “almost anything”. Fablab-ITC will be a technical prototyping platform for innovation and invention, providing stimulus for local and/or international entrepreneurship. Fablab-ITC is also a platform for learning and innovation: a place to play, to create, to learn, to mentor, and to invent. Finally, being a Fablab-ITC means connecting to a global community of learners, educators, technologists, researchers, makers, and innovators.
