The Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC) with support from UNDP has launched a new and innovative program to train energy managers and auditors in Cambodia. The Cambodia Energy Manager and Auditor Training Program (CEMAT) aims to equip participants with the core competencies and skills required for energy management and auditing so that they can be human capital Cambodia’s energy sector development and supportingthe goals set in the National Energy Efficiency Policy (NEEP).
The first CEMAT training sessions were held in September and October 2023, with a total of 31 participants from various sectors, such as government, academia, and the private sector. The participants learned about the fundamentals of energy, energy management systems, energy auditing methodologies, and energy efficiency technologies. The Certified Energy Manager Training (CEM) was held on September 25-27 and October 5-7, 2023, and the Certified Energy Auditor Training (CEA) was held on September 18-20 and October 26-28, 2023. The comprehensive assessment in the form of written examination was held on October 28, 2023, followed by the certificates of completion awarding ceremony with honored participation of the Deputy Director General of ITC, Dr. Ngoun Kollika. Highlighting the importance of the CEMAT program, Dr. Ngoun Kollika emphasizes in his speech the role of the training program in helping Cambodia achieve its energy efficiency targets and the sustainable development.
The CEMAT program is a valuable initiative that is helping to build capacity for energy management and auditing in Cambodia. The program is well-designed and delivered by qualified trainers. The graduates are now equipped with the skills and knowledge they need to make a positive contribution to energy efficiency in Cambodia.
