Component 2: Improving Research in STEM and Agriculture
Component 2 “Improving Research in STEM and Agriculture” under Higher Education Improvement Projects in the Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC) was granted approximately 7M USD through the Royal Government of Cambodia and World Bank. Component 2 aims to improve the quality and relevance of research in STEM and agriculture fields which allow the research projects implemented in collaboration with industrial partners, national and international universities, non-government organizations, ministries, and relevant agencies. It results in peer-reviewed publications, public policy making using scientific evidences, promotion of women in research, promotion of research in practical manners, and development of prototypes for commercialization.
ITC received sub-grant agreements for 25 sub-research projects, in which 23 sub-research projects link with the industrial partners (Window 1) and 2 sub-research projects support the policy-making (Window 2). Among the 25 sub-research projects, there are 8 sub-research projects led by female principal investigators (PI). Furthermore, the 25 sub-research projects strongly support to advance applied research and commercializing research outputs through technology transfer for serving national socioeconomic growth via the five research units of Research and Innovation Center (RIC):

- Materials Science and Structure (MSS) = 4 sub-research projects
- Mechatronics and Information Technology (MIT) = 4 sub-research projects
