On the 10th January 2025, 48 students majoring in Water Resources Engineering and Rural Infrastructure (WRI) conducted the educational study visit to Kampot Cement Co., Ltd.

On January 15, 2025, 38 students majoring in Water and Environmental Engineering under the faculty of Hydrology and Water Resources Engineering of the Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC) visited Boeung Choeung Ek Wastewater Treatment Plant. This educational fieldvisit allowed students to learn more about the actual technical and practical implementation of the treatment process, maintenance and management of the wastewater treatment plant which they have studied in the class.

មហាវិទ្យាល័យវារីសាស្រ្ត Faculty of Hydrology & Water Resources Engineering of the Institute of Technology of Cambodia – សាលាតិចណូ has organized a Seminar on Water Resources Engineering and Rural Infrastructure (WRI) and Internship Orientation for the students of WRI specialization in Conference Hall 1, Building A, ITC from 1pm to 5pm of the 25th December 2025. In the seminar session we got four experienced and inspired speakers:

[ITC-Phnom Penh], On 24 November 2023, Faculty of Hydrology and Water Resources Engineering, welcomed the delegation from Teaching and Research Chair AgroParisTech – SUEZ “Water for All – General management of water and sanitation services” for their training mission of ADVANCED MASTER’S “Water for All” – OpT for the K-OpT case study “Water and Sanitation in Phnom Penh” which aims to analyze the past and recent situation of 8 themes (institutional, governance, technical, administrative, financial, legal, commercial, human resource) on water and sanitation in Phnom Penh, as well as to define a strategic action plan of the structure, to consolidate the performance of the sector in the medium term (10 years). The 15 manager trainees are managers in the water sector from different countries such as Ghana, Palestine, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Pakistan, Kenya, Georgia.

Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Authority for Preah Vihear (NAPV), and one of the commitments is to support the research study on sustainable water resources management in Koh Ker and Preah Vihear Heritage Site. Currently, ITC and NAPV are jointly conducting a study to characterize the water resources profile for the catchment where located the heritage sites and this forms the basis for the activity plan of research in 2023-2024. This is the first joint research activity and it covers 5 main topics as below. As per the next step, we are preparing to join the ICC meeting (8-11 December 2023) by presenting the research plan and progress results.
(1) Planning atlas
(2) Hydraulic infrastructure system
(3) Water resource utilization
(4) Natural disasters
(5) Catchment development plan

Following the study tour organized by CAPRED for I4-WEE students to visit Mr. Dy Piseth’s water supply station in Kampong, Dr. CHHUON Kong, and colleagues of the faculty of Hydrology and Water Resources Engineering (HRE) at ITC had a meeting with Ms. TIN Mola, infrastructure lead from CAPRED at Faculty office on July 19th, 2023.
After introducing the background of CAPRED and the Faculty to each other, Dr. Kong his colleagues have shared the challenges of education on water supply engineering at the faculty on 1) water supply engineering student’s practices in the lab and in water operators , 2) real job market need and salary for fresh graduate of water supply engineer, and 3) Women in water supply engineering. Both parties discussed about collaborations including GEDSI and youth participation in WASH sector, a new associate program in water supply, and the new set up lab for water supply and plumbing at ITC. Both parties acknowledge the need to engage more engineering students in the water supply sector. Ms. Mola agreed to consider the possibility of coordinating the students to do internships at water supply systems with the support of CAPRED. Dr. Kong proposed that in order to close the gap on lacking of human resource with correct skill in water supply sector, we should work together with all relevant stakeholders to map out the human resource needed by all water operators in the country and keep updating the information to be used by academic intuitions for matching between real need and real supply.

Under the framework of the INOWASIA Project which is an ERAMSMUS Plus capacity building project, Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC) hosting the training on the “Internet of Things” from 6th -7th July 2023.
