His research topic is about “The Investigation of Reservoir Operational Rules and Environmental Flow Requirement Under Extreme Climate Change Scenarios in Lower Mekong Basin Tributaries”. Currently he is taking one semester (6months) research exchange, from 15 March-15 August 2022 at Chulalongkorn University, Thailand.
Objectives of overseas study:
To apply the Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) for the daily streamflow simulation from 2001 to 2019 for baseline study period.
To calibrate the model for the streamflow simulation under different climate change scenarios 2040s and 2090s.
To observe the flow condition change post and after lower Sesan II
To learn about Landuse map with resolution 250x250m in 2002 from Global Land Cover Characterization.
ITC enrolled Mr. BUN Menghorng for upgrading staff’s qualification into doctoral’s degree study in the field of Electriacal Engineering at INP-Toulouse, France in the academic years 2021-2022 throught the partnership agreement with INP-Toulouse under HEIP. His research topic is entitled about “Contribution to the optimal design, control and diagnostic of an e-tuk-tuk using second life components and renewable energies”. Currently Mr. Bun Menghorng is taking 5 months study, from 11 June-11 November 2022 at INP-Toulouse, France. The objectives of his doctoral’degree study at INP-T are:
To study the Life Cycle Assessment of each tuk-tuk (LPG-tuk-tuk, petrol, e-tuk-tuk, se-tuk-tuk, and reused se-tuk tuk).
To implement data of each tuk-tuk to assess which is the best solution to save environment.
To write the publication paper about the life cycle assessment of se-tuk-tuk.
(ITC, Phnom Penh): From 03 to 12 July 2022, three lecturers of Institute of Technology of Cambodia have provided the skill training on “Smart Irrigation System” to 17 high school teachers coming from 11 different secondary schools under the STEM Education Local Partnership Program of Higher Education Improvement Project (HEIP). The training focuses on Theory, Practice and Business plan.
Theory training: trainees have been trained about the knowledge of the soil, water, irrigation components, controller and safety in order to design the system in a greenhouse.
Practical training: trainees have been trained on the irrigation system installation, controller setup, and also set up those system in a green house.
Business plan: trainees have been trained on how to prepare and apply the business plans to the business’s operations for income generation in their community.
Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC, Phnom Penh) has provided skill training on “Residential Electrical Wiring” for 30 teachers coming from 15 different secondary schools and high schools under the STEM Education Local Partnership Program of Higher Education Improvement Project (HEIP) from 26th June to 5th July 2022. The training was divided into theory, practice, and business plan which were provided by skillful trainers from ITC.
-Theory: the training focused on the theory of electrical installation safety, electrical protection devices such as MCB and RCCB, cable selection, load calculation, electrical standards, understanding, and drawing of Single Line Diagram (SLD), and electrical symbols.
-Practice: the training focused on the practice of electrical installation on the training board starting with the cable wiring, installation of LED lamps, switch, two ways switch, and electrical socket. After that, the trainees practiced electrical measurements such as voltage and current using a multimeter and clamp meter to calculate the energy consumption to choose the right cable and protection devices. The practice also included the connection of MCB and RCCB and the distribution board (DB) installation. After completing all these tasks, the trainees practiced on electrical installation and wiring for different floors on the training board and did the troubleshooting.
Business plan: Business plan training covered the calculation of cost, profit, project cost evaluation, making installation plan, business plan, and hiring. Moreover, the trainees got knowledge in Digital Business such as Mobile Banking (ACLEDA/ABA), creating a Facebook page, and buying electrical equipment online both in local and international markets for installation and resale.
At the end of the training, the trainees were evaluated the theory, and business plan, and practiced the installation of 2 floors house. Then the successful candidates got the certificate of completion of the training to start the business back home.
