    Seminar on “Marine Mediterranean Saprope”

    [29th September 2025]

Discover their origin, paleo-oceanographic meaning, and why they matter, especially when compared to their lacustrine counterparts.

A big thank you to Prof. Alessandra Negri from the Università Politecnica Delle Marche for her fantastic seminar on “Marine Mediterranean Sapropel.” We had an interesting discussion about sapropel deposits and how they might relate to Tonle Sap Lake, sparking ideas for a new joint research project.

ITC supporting to the NAPV to conduct the study on sustainable water resources management in Koh Ker and Preah Vihear Heritage Site

Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Authority for Preah Vihear (NAPV), and one of the commitments is to support the research study on sustainable water resources management in Koh Ker and Preah Vihear Heritage Site. Currently, ITC and NAPV are jointly conducting a study to characterize the water resources profile for the catchment where located the heritage sites and this forms the basis for the activity plan of research in 2023-2024. This is the first joint research activity and it covers 5 main topics as below. As per the next step, we are preparing to join the ICC meeting (8-11 December 2023) by presenting the research plan and progress results.
    (1) Planning atlas
    (2) Hydraulic infrastructure system
    (3) Water resource utilization
    (4) Natural disasters
    (5) Catchment development plan

  • A meeting between HRE of ITC and CAPRED – Cambodia Australia Partnership for Resilient Economic Development

A meeting between HRE of ITC and CAPRED – Cambodia Australia Partnership for Resilient Economic Development

Following the study tour organized by CAPRED for I4-WEE students to visit Mr. Dy Piseth’s water supply station in Kampong, Dr. CHHUON Kong, and colleagues of the faculty of Hydrology and Water Resources Engineering (HRE) at ITC had a meeting with Ms. TIN Mola, infrastructure lead from CAPRED at Faculty office on July 19th, 2023.

After introducing the background of CAPRED and the Faculty to each other, Dr. Kong his colleagues have shared the challenges of education on water supply engineering at the faculty on 1) water supply engineering student’s practices in the lab and in water operators , 2) real job market need and salary for fresh graduate of water supply engineer, and 3) Women in water supply engineering. Both parties discussed about collaborations including GEDSI and youth participation in WASH sector, a new associate program in water supply, and the new set up lab for water supply and plumbing at ITC. Both parties acknowledge the need to engage more engineering students in the water supply sector. Ms. Mola agreed to consider the possibility of coordinating the students to do internships at water supply systems with the support of CAPRED. Dr. Kong proposed that in order to close the gap on lacking of human resource with correct skill in water supply sector, we should work together with all relevant stakeholders to map out the human resource needed by all water operators in the country and keep updating the information to be used by academic intuitions for matching between real need and real supply.
